History of the Galletto's, Galetto & Galetta
Well it starts off like this
In a small town in Italy called Forino, Province of Avellino, Region Campania There was a women named Filomena De Lauro who Married Francesco Galetta, Born 1840, Filomena had 9 children 2 Girls 7 Boys, starting in age order.
Teresa Galetta birth 1877, Luigi Galetta 1880, Enrico (Andy) Galetta 1882 Felice (Phillip) Galetta 1887, Giuseppe (Peppe) Galetta 1889, Raffeale Galetta 1891 - 1892, Giuseppa Galetta 1893-1893, Raffaele (Ralph) Galetta 1895, Francesco (Frank) Galetta 1898, Fiore Galetta 1900.
When America opened the gates for immigrants our Grandfathers landed at Ellis Island in New York Harbor for immigration inspection.
Most Italian immigrants left Italy to escape poverty. In the late 19th century, peasants and unskilled laborers experienced difficulty because the Italian land system did not offer much hope for personal improvement.
5 Brothers Came to America Luigi, Phillip, Enrico, Ralph & Francesco. 2 Brothers stood back home in Forino, Giuseppa & Fiore Galetta.
To all of our surprise there was a sister named Teresa Galetta for whom it is still unknown as to what happened to her. I was able to obtain birth records from Italy and discovered that Teresa was the first born and she may have immigrated to South America.
All the Galetta's who came to America did not know the English Language and in the process of saying their last name when they landed on Ellis Island names were changed. That's how they became Galetto or Galletto
On some of the documents the names been changed many times, the spelling was off Galletta, Galleto, Golleta,Galeta and E.C.T...
All the brothers migrated to Rochester, NY and raised their families in an extended family environment with aunts, uncles and cousins, areas like Brown st & Exchange St
Exchange St Rochester NY
Francesco Galetta my Grandfather worked his way down to NYC and finally making his life In Newark, NJ, where other Galetta family members migrated and raised his family there
The real name of the family was Galetta.

This page is dedicated to our loved ones that we've lost & miss so much. We wouldn't be on this tree if it wasn't for them. They have become our guardian angels and lovingly watch over us. As we unite here on earth, they are reunited in Heaven. I am sure they are sitting around a big table up there talking about how they are remembered by family, knowing they remain in the hearts of us all.
Victor Galletto

(This Tree was started Sep,15 2005)
Ok here the answer to everyone's question. Why did I take so long to do a tree? Well, I started doing one about 6 years ago and got stuck on names and wasn't getting anywhere so i just got disgusted and put it on the back burner. Then something told me to do it again it took me about 3 weeks to do this tree. This one was fast thanks to everyone's help. I'm not giving up this time.
Why Is this tree so important?
Well some people think it is, like me and many others.
It also help's people remember where they came from & how they got here
Inoltre ci aiuta a
capire da dove veniamo e come siamo venuti qui.
(The Galletto's Galetta's Galetto's)
How this tree finally came about for the Galletto's
When I was talking to Cousin/Cugina Marie (Galletto) Bottazzi about the tree, she took out Grandpa's Francesco Galletto's (Cheach) funeral registration book from 1963. We found the names of the family in it and those who couldn't make it to the funeral sent prayer cards. The only names we had were Mr. & Mrs. Dom Cruppe, Mr. & Mrs. William Farone, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Sansone, Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Randisi, Frank Galetto & William Galletto. We worked on those names but we couldn't find anything. All of them had the husband's last names so it was hard to find any information. So we talked to Marie's Father, my Uncle Frank Galletto. He told us some of the names to look up in Rochester NY. We started with the name Ralph Galletto and found two Ralph's in the phone book. The first one Uncle Frank called was, my Grandfathers Brother Phillip's son. Uncle Frank asked him if any of his family came from Brown St. in Rochester, NY and that's were we started. Thanks to Ralph Galletto and daughter Gail Galletto we got pointed in the right direction. Thanks to his sister Aunt Jennie (Galletto) Clemente this tree is where it is today and still growing.
The Desiderio
We got in contact with cousin Paul Gugliemella, Grandma's sister Theresa son. He gave us information on Grandma's brothers and sisters. We are still working on the Desiderio's and soon should have it completed.
Those of you who are married W/O children.
There is a problem with the page the spouse don't show

Thanks to whomever I forgot. It's only in writing not in my mind, I am thankful for all your help.
Print this tree out and save it in a safe place to pass on to the next generation.
Thank God we found the missing Galletto's & Desiderio's.
